Frequently Asked
Questions
1. Where can I get
my dog licensed, and how much does it cost?
We issue Lake Havasu City dog
licenses here at the Humane Society, at the front counter. A
current Rabies Vaccine record is required. Licenses are $10 for a
spayed or neutered dog, and $20 for an unaltered dog. (not spayed or
neutered)
2. Can I get my pet
vaccinated at the Humane Society?
No, we do not have a
veterinarian on staff. You would need to contact one of the four
vet offices in Lake Havasu to make an appointment.

3. What can I do
about a barking dog in my neighborhood?
Our Animal Control Officers are
available to handle barking complaints Monday through Saturday, 8 am to
5 pm. They require the barking dog's address so they may make
contact with the dog's owner. It is best to supply as much
information to the dispatchers in our office as you can because
incomplete reports sometimes result in situations where the dog's owner
can't be contacted. Animal Control's dispatch line is 855-7479.
4. What if I have
lost a pet?
Our front office staff takes
"Lost" reports in person or over the phone. Should they receive a
call about your pet from a citizen or should Animal Control impound your
pet, you will be called. "Lost" reports are kept for typically a
month at our front desk. Don't hesitate to visit our facilities to
make sure your lost pet hasn't turned up here!
5. I am looking for
a particular breed of dog. Can I put in a special request to the
Humane Society for it?
Yes, it is called a Wish List
Application, and it is located in the Humane Society's front lobby.
Fill out this application and your name will be put down for whichever
breed you are looking for.
6. What is the
process to adopt a pet from the Humane Society?
First, visit our kennels which
are open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. If you should
find a pet who matches your family's personality, fill out an adoption
application at our front counter. The staff will then direct you
to our Adoption Counselor who will go over the application with you.
Landlord approval is required if you are renting. Puppies and
certain dog breeds must have a completed home inspection by Animal
Control. Arizona State law requires that all pets adopted through
the Humane Society must first be spayed or neutered before they can go
home, and a rabies vaccine must be administered.
